These Celebrities Vandalized Their Cool Sports Cars With Hideous Mods

Celebrities love to splash their cash on expensive cars, with the most affluent parts of cities like Los Angeles awash with Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Rolls-Royces. There are so many exotics in these neighborhoods that it’s difficult to stand out just by buying an expensive car alone. To make their mark and add a personal touch to their machines, many celebs turn to modifying their sports cars.

Some do a great job, actually improving the looks of their car, but most seem to have pretty terrible taste. Whether it’s hideous paint jobs, an ugly body kit or even completely rebuilding a car into something disgusting, it seems like there’s no end to the list of celebrity sports car vandals. Let’s round up a selection of particularly bad examples of famous people who’ve spoiled their sports cars.

10 Antonio Brown – Rolls-Royce Wraith

Starting off with an only mildly offensive car, this is American football star Antonio Brown’s Rolls-Royce Wraith. For some reason, he decided to deck the car out in a livery dedicated to his team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It’s a nice idea in theory, but the finished product looks more like someone went overboard with the wrap creator in a video game. It looks more childish than cool, and with a car as classy as a Rolls it doesn’t work at all.

9 Will.I.Am – DeLorean DMC-12

Artist and producer Will.i.am has a knack for making ugly cars, but this is surely one of his worst projects. Made by West Coast Customs, the car started off life as a DeLorean DMC-12 but morphed into something that looks more like a royalty-free sports car out of GTA.

Nearly every panel on the car has been reworked, with reportedly only the doors being original. The stock car didn’t handle well and its build quality was atrocious, which begs the question, why did Will use a DeLorean as a base car in the first place?

8 Sylvester Stallone – Ford Mustang GT

The ever-popular Ford Mustang has seen a lot of hideous modifications made to it over the years, but Sylvester Stallone’s car has to go down as one of the most garish. The black-red-and-silver paint is so 2006 it hurts, and the Foose rims complete its dated look.

According to Barrett-Jackson, the car sports a 4.6L V8 making 550 hp, so at least it’s got one thing going for it. The car was auctioned off in 2011, still bearing Stallone’s embroidered “SS” logo on every seat. Who would buy this thing is a mystery unless there’s a collector out there who actually enjoys buying horrendously tacky cars.

7 Marshawn Lynch – Jeep Wrangler

Marshawn Lynch put his Jeep Wrangler up for sale for charity a few years ago, but it didn’t sell. That’s probably because its reserve price was $90,000, and well there’s not going to be many people who will pay $90k for this.

The over-the-top black and green color scheme looks more like a Monster Energy advert than anything else, and all the extra light bars do nothing for it either. It was at least put up for sale for a good cause, but maybe it’s better than this stays hidden away in Lynch’s garage for a little while longer.

6 Justin Beiber – Audi R8

Pop star Justin Beiber was still a teenager when he bought this Audi R8, so maybe this hideous wrap is more forgivable. Still, it’s a mystery why anybody looks at a $150,000 piece of German engineering and thinks, “leopard print”.

At least it was just a wrap, which can easily be removed and means the car isn’t ruined for life. That’s a lot more than can be said for some of the other hideous creations on this list.

5 Laurence Gartel – Maserati Ghibli

American artist Laurence Gartel made a name for himself with psychedelic, out-of-this-world paintings, but those same designs certainly don’t work on this Maserati. The Ghibli is a sensible executive car meant to take on the BMW 3 Series, so covering it in wacky drawings just looks very out of place.

Perhaps it might have been better if it had more visual modifications, like a body kit and new rims. But, as it is, it’s just a horrible mashup of two styles that don’t even remotely look good together.

4 Will.I.Am – Custom VW Beetle

This strange machine is actually built on the chassis of a VW Beetle, but it’s been so heavily modified it can’t really be classed as a Beetle anymore. Instead, it just lives as a hybrid creation, a nightmarish caricature that doesn’t even have a proper name.

It comes courtesy of Will.I.Am, who reportedly spent five years and $900,000 designing the car. The only logical explanation is he must have done all that designing with his eyes closed, as the end result is unquestionably a total eyesore.

3 Chris Brown – Lamborghini Gallardo

Singer Chris Brown is another celebrity famous for his bad taste in modified cars, and in fact, this jet fighter Gallardo probably isn’t even his worst. But, it’s still pretty rubbish, especially with the fake metal paneling that runs down the side of the car.

Brown has owned a selection of other Lamborghinis with ugly custom work throughout the years, although his latest wide-body Aventador actually looks okay. Still, cars like this Gallardo mean he won’t shake the label of having terrible taste any time soon.

2 Sonny – Ford Mustang

Duo Sonny and Cher were presented with two Mustangs by Ford themselves, presumably as a marketing stunt by the company. Those cars had both been customized by George Barris, a famous modder from the era. Let’s just say that his design hasn’t aged well.

Fake dual hood scoops, custom wheels, and Ford Thunderbird taillights are just a few of the modifications this car received, plus the brown-ish orange paint. Perhaps Sonny was very happy with the car at the time, but today it’s hard to see why anyone would want to spend money on this weird ‘Stang.

1 Hulk Hogan – Dodge Viper

Cartoonish and larger-than-life, Hulk Hogan’s cars reflected his persona. This is his Dodge Viper, a personal favorite car of his decked out in yellow and red. Even back when he first unveiled it, the car was tacky, but today it’s aged so badly it’s almost hilarious.

Without the “Hulkster” graphic on the front, this car may as well have been a bad promotional car for a fast-food company, or a 2000s Hot Wheels car brought to life. But no, it’s Hulk Hogan’s own creation, and it’s gloriously hideous.
