Celebrity Gogglebox stars react to Big Boys’ coming out scene – Digital Spy

Celebrity Gogglebox’s Pride special aired tonight (July 1), and with it came a heartwarming reaction to Jack’s (Dylan Llewellyn) coming out scene in Channel 4’s Big Boys.

The celebrity armchair critics ranged from the cast of the Netflix hit Heartstopper to comedian Mae Martin, alongside our favourite regulars like Rylan Clark-Neal and his mum.

They watched a selection of the latest releases from Scream to This is My House to Man vs Bee, and to end the Pride special with a bang, the celebrities shared their reactions to the sweet Big Boys scene.

As Jack built up the courage to come out to his mum as gay, everyone was wracked with anticipation. Comedian Mae Martin was full of nerves, exclaiming: “Oh my god, I’m so nervous for him.” However, Heartstopper’s Joe Locke said what we were all thinking, “I’m gonna cry.”

Some stars even shared snippets of their coming-out experiences. “I remember having this chat with my mum so well,” Scott Mills reminisced.

In his well-known chaotic delivery, Rylan reminisced about his unusual coming out story: “I mean it is nerve-wracking; I ran away for a few hours, didn’t I? In a field,” while his mum added, “and it was pissing down with rain.”

Viewers added their thoughts to the sweet reactions. “Watching the LGBT celebs watching Jack’s coming out story from Big Boys and remembering their own coming out experiences, and willing him on (and his mum), is just [heartbreak and crying emoji],” one Twitter user said.

Another added: “I love how everyone on #CelebrityGogglebox is recounting their own coming out stories. I hope they all had decent experiences!

At the end of the scene, everyone was in tears at the beautiful moment of acceptance between Jack and his mum. As Strictly’s John and Johannes put it: “Here’s to the queer kids.”

Gogglebox airs on Friday nights at 9pm on Channel 4.
