Celebrity Cuisine set for Tuesday in Canton to raise money for hunger relief

CANTON – The 30th annual Celebrity Cuisine will be Tuesday at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.

It’s the first in-person Celebrity Cuisine — which benefits the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank — since the pandemic started in the spring of 2020.

Attendees who purchase tickets can enjoy unlimited appetizers, entrée samples, desserts, beer and wine from more than 30 Stark County restaurants.

Faith Barbato, senior manager of Stark County community engagement for the Foodbank, said Celebrity Cuisine is a signature local event.

“It brings together so many community members passionate about feeding people and fighting hunger, and allows us to celebrate our community’s finest restaurants and purveyors who have been through so much these past two years,” she said in a prepared statement.

“We’re honored that they’ve chosen to donate their time, talent and delicious food again to this year’s event,” she added. “… Though many restaurants experienced hardships throughout the pandemic, they were still willing to support the Foodbank’s hunger-relief efforts by donating surplus food.”

What restaurants will be at Celebrity Cuisine?

Participating restaurants are: Sahara Grille, Skyland Pines Creative Catering, Sparta Steakhouse, Swenson’s Drive-In, Taggart’s Ice Cream, TD’s Tailgate Grill, The Bistro of Oakwood, Tim’s Tavern, Walther’s Twin Tavern, Hide-A-Way Buffalo Grill/Buffalo Express Catering, K & M Coffee Service, Kennedy’s BBQ, Kozmo’s Grille, Mata Mediterranean Grill, Michael D’s, Milk & Honey, Palombo’s Italian Restaurant, Pancho’s Southwestern Grille, Papa Bears/Pizza Oven, Papa Gyros, The Desert Inn, Gregory’s Family Restaurant, and Grinder’s Above & Beyond.

More about the event

Sponsorship tables already have been purchased and reserved and are no longer available, said Raven Gayheart, public relations and communications manager for the Akron-Canton Foodbank. But $50 general admission tickets are available.

Live music will be performed by Stark County pop rock and Americana band Hey Monea. Kenny & JT of News-Talk 1480 WHBC also will be at the event, which is hosted by the Tri-County Restaurant Association and Atlantic Food Distributors.

Attendees will be encouraged to support hunger relief through a silent auction and raffles.

Proceeds will help the food bank collect more prepared and perishable food from restaurants, banquet facilities, caterers and hospitals, while delivering it directly to hot meal sites.

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is a nonprofit organization that provides food to 600 pantries, hot meal sites, shelters and other hunger-relief programs serving individuals and families in Carroll, Holmes, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties.

Other ways to help fight hunger
