After news of Bill Cosby’s prison release spread, these celebrities voiced their opinions, for better or worse.

Recently, social media has been a frenzied place over Bill Cosby’s sexual assault cases being overturned. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has thrown out the convictions against the actor after serving only three years of prison time. The 83-year-old comedian, who rose to fame in the 1980s and the 1990s with the sitcom The Cosby Show, has a laundry list of sexual allegations history from 60 people throughout his career.

That said, these celebrities have voiced their opinion, for better or worse. Famous names like 50 Cent, Timbaland, Kid Cudi, and many more have expressed their opinion for the sudden reversal. Here’s how celebrities reacting to Bill Cosby’s prison release.

Trigger warning: contains mentions of rape and sexual assault.

10 50 Cent

In a now-deleted Instagram post, 50 Cent, who is known for his trolling on social media, called Bill Cosby his “son” and has somewhat been celebrating his prison release as a win, “My son Bill beat that case. These h*es be tripping.”

In fact, this isn’t the first time 50 is on the other side of the history whenever a sexual allegation-related story comes up. When Oprah Winfrey started shooting a #MeToo documentary in 2019, 50 said that he doesn’t “understand why Oprah is going after Black men.”

9 Kid Cudi

On the other hand, 50 Cent’s fellow rapper, Kid Cudi, slammed Cosby’s supporters on Twitter and called out their lack of intelligence. Shortly after the news of the comedian’s release broke out, he tweeted, “People that are celebrating Bill Cosby being released are f****n idiots.” Up to this writing, the tweet has over 57k stamps of approval from Twitter users.

8 Rosie O’Donnell

Rosie O’Donnell weighed in her opinion in a much more blatant and explosive post. The TV personality, who rose to fame in the 1980s, linked a CNN article about Cosby’s release while captioning, “I GUESS 70 WOMEN WEREN’T ENOUGH – f**k u bill #WTF #RAPIST.”

7 Amber Tamblyn

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants actress Amber Tamblyn has also expressed her disappointment with the juridical system in the US. Tamblyn takes on a more personal approach as she “known women who this man drugged and raped while unconscious.”

“I am furious to hear this news,” she took to Twitter while linking a New York Times article about the release. “Shame on the court and this decision.”

6 Lil Duval

Comedian Lil Duval has been feeling the heat on social media due to his tone-deaf post on Twitter. He responded to Bill Cosby’s release with a tasteless joke on Twitter, “Bill Cosby about to be free! City boy win summer 2021!”

While 1.3k Twitter users have liked the post, many fellow artists including rapper J.I.D have called out the comedian and weighed in the conversation, “I ain’t surprised u this lame.”

5 Debra Messing

Will & Grace star Debra Messing has led the outraged celebs to slam the comedian’s sudden prison release. Cosby was allowed to walk free after the judge believed that his conviction was an “unfair trial.”

“To every woman who was sexual assaulted by #BillCosby my heart hurts for you today and I am full fury. It’s horrifying,” she tweeted her empathy.

4 Freddie Gibbs

On the other hand, Freddie Gibbs’ reaction is more of a surprise. He doesn’t directly support or condemn any side, but he was rather surprised to hear of the release.

“R. Kelly definitely calling Bill Cosby lawyers right now,” he took to Twitter, mentioning R. Kelly’s infamous long-lasting court battles and his recent felony of 22 federal counts.

3 Phylicia Rashad

The Cosby Show co-star, Phylicia Rashad, is now trying to distance her name from the comedian. Although the Howard University dean has previously believed that Cosby’s case was “a miscarriage of justice,” she later addressed the issue on Twitter and publicly apologized.

“My post was in no way intended to be insensitive to their truth. Personally I know from friends and family that such abuse has lifelong residual effects. My heartfelt wish is for healing,” she wrote.

2 Timbaland

Super-producer Timbaland has also been taking a social media heat. He “celebrated” the release of Bill Cosby with a joke of an old Jello Pudding Pops ad featuring the actor. As social media erupted with reactions, the producer quickly deleted the Instagram post.

“Who wants a a jello pudding pop,” he wrote in the caption. “I’m home now.”

1 Ice T

In the criminal justice system, sexually based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit. These are their stories: pic.twitter.com/H1auMH1oZ4

Unfortunately, the super-producer isn’t the only A-list celeb who seems to be celebrating the controversial release. Legendary rapper Ice T also commented with a tasteless joke, with many accusing him of having the same predatory vibe.

“Oh s**t Bill Cosby might be touching back down on the bricks…Hot Boy Summer!” said the rapper in a now-deleted tweet.
